The World’s Safest Country

Every year the Institute of Economics and Peace conducts a survey titled the “Global Peace Index” that shows the world’s safest countries. The study looks at 24 factors including political terror, deaths from internal conflict, the importation of weapons, prison population and violent crime.

Iceland grabbed the top spot for the sixth year running out of 163 countries with Denmark, Austria, New Zealand, and Portugal coming up after. The list also showed that the world was generally becoming a more peaceful place but terrorism was growing more particularly in the Middle East and in some parts of Africa.
